POETRY
“My passion for writing takes that of many forms.
This, by far, is the most intimate.”
NOTE: “Evasive Answers” and “Smoldering” were written by Christine Archer, one of the characters in my screenplay “Things People Do“.
EVASIVE ANSWERS
If I die in my sleep
Who would miss the sound of my voice?
If I wake in the morning
Who would want to see my face?
Would my absence be noticed on earth?
Would my presence be noticed in heaven?
Is God really listening
Or just being polite?
Would even Satan covet such an unwanted soul?
SMOLDERING
Pain
Is wanting
And not being wanted
Accepting
But not being accepted
Loving
Without being loved
Damn those who are desired
And burn to ash what makes them so
NOT ENOUGH
With joy you smiled
“I want all of this!”
With glee you grinned
“I want all of that too!”
In anger you yelled
“I can’t live like this!”
With sadness you cried
“I don’t know what to do.”
Out of pride I tried
To give you all of that
But I remembered life’s not
About all what you have
So, with my heart instead
I gave you all my love
And with spite you sneered
“Is that all you got?”
Pretty good poems! I haven’t written poetry since I was about 19 and back then, all my poems were about vampires…god, I just love them bloodsuckers lol
I’m waiting to write a vampire story. I have some ideas for one, but I want it to be “just right” and “good”, so I think I’ll hold off on it for…a couple of years, lol.
I have to read one of your poems one day. (hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
Sadly, like a good angsty teenager that I was back then…I burnt them! Oh god, how dark am I? I’m laughing and how sad I did that once…now, I have no proof I ever wrote them…sigh
Maybe I’ll write a new angsty vampire poem one day…
Yep, to take on the vampire tale is a challenge but a good creative one.
Ha, now that’s what I call character! You burned your poems. If that’s not making a statement nothing is, lol.
But, yeah, I’m leery about tackling a Vampire story. They have SO much history behind them.
Love your poems…especially evasive answers and Not enough
Thanks! Poems come to me randomly, but those two do hit close to home. Ah, the trails and tribulations of my youth, lol!
