With the only reason why I still have cable on break till February, outside of Discovery ID that is, I’ve gotten pulled into Destiny.
“In Destiny you are a Guardian of the last city on Earth, able to wield incredible power. Explore the ancient ruins of our solar system, from the red dunes of Mars to the lush jungles of Venus. Defeat Earth’s enemies. Reclaim all that we have lost. Become legend.”
It’s pretty cool so far. Gameplay is nice, but admittedly, the main draw for me is the ability to somewhat “customize” your characters looks and abilities. I, being a creator, am a sucker for almost any game that allows you to customize your character where you don’t run around necessarily looking like every other player character you come across in the game world.
You know I love female characters, so meet my current Character for Destiny, who bares a striking resemblance to one of my protagonists, named Amelia, in an alternate project that I’m developing while I take a break from Cadaver Dog.
The reason why I love character customization in video games , is because I can make the game character look like one of my own characters and play them, which inspirationally gives me more insight and ideas for my character while seeing them “in action”.
As you can see in the pic, Amelia is a Guardian Warlock/Voidwalker who wields the power of Void Light and can hurl a bolt of it, called a Nova Bomb, at the enemy that can disintegrate all within it’s destructive radius. Pretty cool. Even prettier to see, ha.
Another cool feature is that you play the entire game online, even the story mode. So, while you’re on a story mission by yourself, you’ll often run across other players doing their own thing, and you can join up briefly to help each other out or just pass each other by like Guardian’s in the night.
Other than weapons and armor, you can buy ships to travel to other planets and various ground vehicles, reminiscent of Star Wars Speeder Bikes, with which you use to traverse the planets you visit.
All in all, a pretty good game. Check it out if you can.
